If you went through basic training with your dog, what treats did you rely on for rewards? We brought quarter-sized biscuits to our very first training class with Pierogi, which didn't work out very well...
For starters, we ran out way too early and although the biscuits were bite-sized, they were still too much for young Pierogi (who also had minimal teeth at the time) to quickly chew at the frequency that we were being directed to reward him. So, when our instructor noticed us struggling, she suggested that we try using bits of plain cheese instead.
The cheese was a winner -- just like our instructor knew it would be! It's soft enough that small bits barely have to be chewed and can be cut to any size. By the way, a pizza cutter works great to quickly cut up a cheese block. We're finally starting training classes with Gilly and we are definitely bringing the cheese! But, what worked for you? Would you recommend something else? We'd love to hear below!
Woof! (Hey, there!) Pierogi, Gilly and Sarah here. Thanks for stopping by our dog blog. We're a little dog-obsessed around here and Pierogi & Co. is all about inspiring you to enjoy the dog days. Because life's more fun with your best (furry) friend by your side. So grab a bone and follow along as we stop to sniff the flowers...
