Okay, here's the game plan: the chicken wings are going to kick off, pass to the onion rings and then the mini meatballs are going to run to the chicken and waffles for a touchdown. Tail-gate on three! Woof!
Do you have any big plans for the Puppy Bowl? We usually go all out on the food front. Last year and BP (Before Pierogi), Mike and I made a big tray of fajita nachos, double bacon popcorn and Oreo trifles in beer steins! This year, the human menu is still in the air, but the doggie menu has been finalized for weeks :) Here's a peek at our ultimate tail-gate spread.
Chicken wings! Chicken wings are a fan-favorite in our home. (In fact, Mike especially, is such a big fan that he always has the date of this festival marked on his calendar :) Mike prefers his wings hot and saucy, while I like garlic and Pierogi is good with plain 'ol baked wings. We picked up these from our favorite local pet store, where they have a wide selection of all kinds of chewies.
"Onion rings"! Remember the peanut butter recipe that we shared last week? When the peanut butter cups bake in the molds, they tend to puff over. So these "onion rings" are actually the trimmed-off tops of the peanut butter cups!
Mini meatballs! Cocktail meatballs are another one of my favorite tailgate snacks. You know, the grape jelly kind? If you don't know what I'm talking about, disregard the grape jelly comment. They sound questionable, but if you try one, you might not be able to walk away from the platter! These doggie meatballs start with this brand. To make them saucy, we drizzled a little gravy over the top.
Chicken and waffles! Chicken and waffles have always intrigued me, but I've never had the opportunity to sample an authentic serving. Whenever we're in the Southern states, I usually go for biscuits and gravy. These doggie waffle biscuits are also by Milo's Kitchen, to which we added a little chicken and a drop of honey as the waffle syrup.
Finally, to wash everything down, we're serving icy cold Bowser Beer!
Does anyone ever really watch the game? ;)
Woof! (Hey, there!) Pierogi, Gilly and Sarah here. Thanks for stopping by our dog blog. We're a little dog-obsessed around here and Pierogi & Co. is all about inspiring you to enjoy the dog days. Because life's more fun with your best (furry) friend by your side. So grab a bone and follow along as we stop to sniff the flowers...
