What kinds of videos do you like to watch on YouTube? Randomly, I got into binge-watching dollar store DIY videos! If you've never watched one, the videos share DIY projects centered around dollar store finds. There are so many channels that cover the topic, but I love skipping around because each channel tends to have a really unique take and the ideas are all so creative. There are tutorials for constructing furniture, decorating parties, creating home decor dupes and organizing your home. So, inspired by these videos, I challenged myself to scour our own local dollar store for unique finds. And this week, we'll be sharing a sort of mini series about those finds -- from unexpected dog finds to dog DIYs...
Up first, we're showcasing how we rethought dollar store finds for doggies! We shopped at the Dollar Tree, and although they do have a pet section, none of finds below came from that area.
What: Bubblegum machine
Remix: Instead of candy, we filled this cheerful bubblegum machine with bite-sized dog treats.
What: Mini keychain flashlight
Remix: This little LED flashlight hangs on a carabiner and is handy enough on its own. But, it also functions perfectly on a dog leash for late night walks.
What: Reflective band
Remix: Do you remember how popular slap bands were? I definitely had a holographic one! Anyway, they're back and now they're more than a fashion statement. To make a reflective leash, we simply snipped off each end of the band, pulled the metal strip out and slid a leash through. Between the flashlight and this reflective strip, we are ready for the night!
What: Car detail mitt
Remix: This mitt was originally intended to detail cars, but it's really just a super soft cloth. And all we saw in the mitt, was the perfect way to quickly clean up muddy puppy paws.
What: Tennis ball light
Remix: A tennis ball night light just seemed like the perfect accessory for our tennis ball loving dogs. I imagined this near their little dresser of dog stuff.
What: Mini freezer cups
Remix: These mini freezer cups are meant for food and are also BPA-free and freezer safe. It also seems like they're meant to for holding homemade doggie ice cream! Were you thinking the same thing?
Do you like shopping at dollar stores? How about rethinking ordinary items? We had so much fun with this post. Mike tagged along to go shopping and I wish you could have overheard some of the hilarious ideas that we brainstormed!
