Push pops have been popular for years, but surprisingly (at least to myself), I've never picked up a pack to play with. I finally did, and what did I fill them with? Not layers of cake and frosting or pretty confetti, but a medley of dog treats!
I've claimed simplicity in so many of our DIYs, but this one might take the cake! To make a treat popper, all you need are push pops and about 3 tablespoons of a mix of your dog's favorite treats, per popper.
We made a quick mix of about 2 tablespoons of kibble, 1 tablespoon of these tiny bones plus a few larger bones, per popper. But so many other filings are also possible - like a chunky-cut (and dog-safe) fruit or veggie salad. To fill, just pull the handle all the way down, fill to the brim and replace the cap.
Aren't these cute? To give a popper as a gift, you could add stickers to the outside, tuck it into a clear wrapper and finish with a bow!
This guy was skeptical at first, but then dove in!
Would you give these a try? You could easily make up several poppers and keep them on hand for all of life's little celebrations: graduating doggie class, being brave at the vet or descending a full flight of stairs for the first time!
P.S. Have fun with the poppers, but make sure to aim them away from your pup's face :) Aim them up, rather than out!
