We made it to day five as a new family and things are going great! Pierogi seems to be adjusting well as a big brother...
We've been doing our best to maintain his daily routine so that a new playmate/brother would be his only worry - and there's been plenty of playing. The boys play from the second one of them wakes up (because one always wakes up the other) until the second they simultaneously crash in the evening. I've noticed that Pierogi tries to tone it down (as much as an energetic Boston Terrier possibly can) for Gilly. For instance, after every few rounds of tag, he lets Gilly catch him and occasionally, he lends out his most prized toys.
Every day, we're getting to know Gilly a little better. He continues to be affectionate with Mike and I and loves to follow us around. Gilly went for his first veterinarian appointment, with us, earlier this week. Our vet confirmed that he's a healthy baby boy and settled two things for me. First, despite his pudgy frame, his weight is healthy. Those rolls are deceiving! Second, he has the tiniest (permanent) teeth with a notable underbite, which I didn't notice until the vet took a look at his chompers.
Together, we've attempted a walk (which didn't work out so well because one pup is a pro walker and the other...isn't) and a family cuddle (but that was also just a little too much excitement). I've forgotten how far back puppies start :)
We're planning to register Gilly for a puppy class in the next few weeks and potentially Pierogi for an advanced class. Have you ever attended puppy class or another specialized class with your dog? Also, thanks for the congratulations and well wishes for our new family. We're having so much fun together!
Woof! (Hey, there!) Pierogi, Gilly and Sarah here. Thanks for stopping by our dog blog. We're a little dog-obsessed around here and Pierogi & Co. is all about inspiring you to enjoy the dog days. Because life's more fun with your best (furry) friend by your side. So grab a bone and follow along as we stop to sniff the flowers...
