In honor of summer, we're bringing our "Two Ways" series back, and this time we're sampling homemade ice cream!
To make each version of homemade ice cream, I grabbed a pint of this for the humans and a pint of this for the hounds. Each pint included ice cream powder and The Invisible Chef tub also included a chocolate topping mix!
To make the doggie ice cream, we simply combined the ice cream mix with water; to make the people ice cream, we combined the ice cream mix with heavy cream and whole milk. Both mixes were so fragrant as they came together -- especially the people ice cream, which included real Madagascar vanilla bean. Then, it was into the freezer for both pints!
After several hours, both tubs turned out like the real deal. They had hardened and become creamy carob doggie ice cream and rich vanilla people ice cream. Of course, I had to go to "topping town" for the people ice cream! There's no such thing as over the top here...
Remember those posh dog napkins? We still had a few leftover.
YAS! That's how we do ice cream.
When we had fully documented the deliciousness above, we all indulged. Pierogi and Gilly seemed to enjoy the carob flavor enough, although I think they're partial to vanilla (just like their mama ;) But the doggie ice cream was the perfect treat for these hot, late summer days. The ice cream was smooth and perfectly lickable for surely any doggie.
As for the people version, I was surprised by how well it turned out (even without an ice cream maker). Homemade ice cream had always overwhelmed me, but this halfway-homemade tub was the perfect introduction. And that vanilla flavor was so on point!
Woof! (Hey, there!) Pierogi, Gilly and Sarah here. Thanks for stopping by our dog blog. We're a little dog-obsessed around here and Pierogi & Co. is all about inspiring you to enjoy the dog days. Because life's more fun with your best (furry) friend by your side. So grab a bone and follow along as we stop to sniff the flowers...
