I can't believe how long it took us!
We (unintentionally) waited nearly half of the summer before introducing Gilly to a pup cup (or as Pierogi sometimes refers to it -- Heaven in a Cup). So, wanting to make Gilly's first pup cup memorable, we took him to our favorite local custard spot. It's a retro walk-up stand that serves a different flavor every day of the summer. They're conveniently located off of a major road and announce their daily flavor on a scrolling marquee that successfully entices me to stop by far more than I should ;)
We stopped by last night (which is always a good way to wrap up a weekend) and it did not disappoint! We ordered a pint of Caramel Chocolate Pretzel and two pup cups. Pierogi was already familiar with the pup cup drill, but Gilly soon became an old pro too. We set the custard cups on the ground and they went to town!
The custard stand serves a perfect doggie-sized serving in these little cups that are hilarious to watch doggies maneuver. At first, the doggie cups present no issues. Fresh out of the custard machine, the custard is within a lickable reach for pups. But as they progress...
Oh, here's the pint of Caramel Chocolate Pretzel that we took home! It was amazing.
But, like I was saying, as doggies progress through their pup cups, it gets harder and harder to reach the custard! So, they start to get creative as they desperately continue to go after that good cold stuff.
This little face melts my heart to the moon and back! You have a little something everywhere, Gilly!
But it was Mom (and her handy opposable thumbs) who can hold pup cups at optimal angles who really helped to save the day :) Custard reached!
Well done, Pierogi! #leavenocustardbehind
Have you made an ice cream run lately? Do you like to make your own? If you'd like, leave us a link to a snap of your doggie enjoying ice cream! Mmm...ice cream. This was Pierogi's first pup cup, from the same place.
Woof! (Hey, there!) Pierogi, Gilly and Sarah here. Thanks for stopping by our dog blog. We're a little dog-obsessed around here and Pierogi & Co. is all about inspiring you to enjoy the dog days. Because life's more fun with your best (furry) friend by your side. So grab a bone and follow along as we stop to sniff the flowers...
