C'mon! Follow us into this post for four effortless, yet valuable dog hacks!
Hack #1: Trim your bag like this for less mess
In the past, whenever we bought a new bag of dog food, I'd rip into it with zero thought. (I also apply that genius technique to bags of kettle cooked barbeque potato chips.) And although the zero-thought-bag-rip method technically works, when I would go to fill up our countertop jar, an embarrassing amount of food pellets would scatter everywhere. Good for Pierogi and Gilly, bad for a gal who hates to sweep.
But the last time we bought a new bag of dog food, Mike started the bag, and neatly trimmed off a corner (see above) and it changed the game. The trim automatically creates a little built-in spout (see below), if you will, kind of like the little pop-out spout on boxes of salt.
Hack #2: Label everything to save your sanity
This initial problem may be a little specific, but if you happen to have multiple dogs around the same size (but one has a more athletic build and the other one clearly enjoys every Taco Tuesday without fail) and enjoy coordinating their outfits, then our suggested solution is to label everything!
Before I ironed on these leftover initials, every time that we needed to harness up, Mike and I would squint and gamble on which harness was slightly smaller or larger and then proceed to chase the corresponding dog around the house. But without fail, we always mixed up the dogs and harnesses and would have to bribe the dogs to play round two of the harness game. Pierogi and Gilly have profusely thanked me since I labelled their harnesses.
Hack #3: Scent your accident spray to save your nose
Two dogs and an unwelcomed number of accidents later, we're still using this same spray. We've tried a few different formulas over the years, but we always return to that one. My only issue, among the sprays that we've tried, is that they typically don't conquer any immediate smells. Sure, they may do an excellent job of preventing any future smells by killing the bad stuff, but I also need immediate relief. Do you feel me?
So, I recently started pouring generous drizzles of liquid air freshener into the accident spray bottle, and now I'm never turning back!
Hack #4: Let there be light!
Are you noticing a trend in this post? We "suffer" through issues for awhile, acknowledge that we're "suffering", but take forever to come up with solutions. And this last point is no exception :)
If you follow us closely (thank you!), you may remember that we had a fence installed in our backyard last spring. We're now transitioning into winter, which means that we ran around a dimly lit backyard for many, many evenings. Not only was the lack of light not the safest, but I'm also suggesting that it constantly put our shoes in danger.
Well, we finally had enough and found and fell in love with these solar powered lights. They charge well, have multiple settings (like motion-sensor) and, best of all, are bright! We bought two and positioned them at opposite sides of our yard.
Alright, what hacks have you come up with?
Have a pawsome weekend!
