Last weekend, Mike and I decided to celebrate Valentine's Day early. And because our family is kind of a package deal, Pierogi and Gilly tagged along too! Now Mike and I enjoy going on fancy schmancy dates, but we also love low-key dates :) Superdawg on a sunny afternoon fit the low-key bill. If you're not familiar with Superdawg (there are only two locations), they're a drive-in restaurant that serves up nostalgia and Chicago-style hot dogs. If you're not familiar with Chicago dogs, well, then we recommend wagging your tail all the way to Chicago to get one!
Before heading out, we fed the boys an early dinner and I snuck a big surprise into my bag...
The menu at Superdawg is straightforward and includes all the major food groups: hot dogs - of course, hamburgers, crinkle fries and malt shakes. (Elf, anyone?) Mike ordered a Whoopercheesie and I ordered a Superdawg. We also ordered a Superonionchips for good measure and Pierogi kept yelling for a Supershrimp from the backseat. He did not get a Supershrimp :) Then, it was time to play the waiting game...
At first, Pierogi and Gilly just sat quietly, but then they switched gears and worked on gaining the attention of neighboring cars.
Finally, our food was delivered and Mike and I did a happy dance - just our short version since we were hungry.
And right before we opened our Superdawg boxes of goodness, I pulled out the surprise! A giant hot dog toy (with mustard only - an important Chicago dog nuance).
Whoopercheesie + Superdawg = 4ever
It was the perfect thing to keep them occupied.
When we finally finished our boxes, we debated ordering a vanilla malt shake. In the end, we decided that it was the right thing to do and just as we were placing a second order, the backseat got a little too quiet. The boys had drifted to sleep!
All in a day's work of a puppy!
Hiya, delicious malt shake.
Woof! (Hey, there!) Pierogi, Gilly and Sarah here. Thanks for stopping by our dog blog. We're a little dog-obsessed around here and Pierogi & Co. is all about inspiring you to enjoy the dog days. Because life's more fun with your best (furry) friend by your side. So grab a bone and follow along as we stop to sniff the flowers...
