Today, we're sharing a super easy, but even better, a super sweet DIY for a paw print plaque. It takes all of five minutes to make and the possibilities for customization are nearly endless...
Roll the clay to a thickness of 1/8" - 1/4".
Stamp your shape into the clay.
Customization ideas: fancy cutters, double outline to give your piece a trim, or roll the clay a little thicker and create a pattern around the edge.
Now comes the fun part...gently guide your pup's paw to imprint the shape. If he's feeling a little hesitant, offer to give him a million dollars. That works every time with Pierogi ;)
Except this time...he didn't want the million dollars and didn't feel like giving us another print. But here's an earlier and less than perfect example of a plaque that we made when he was only five months old. So tiny!
At this point, don't forget to punch out a small hole if you'd like to hang your project. Then, if you went with the air dry clay like we did, you'll just have to patiently wait for your project to harden.
Customization ideas: spell out your dog's name below their paw print with letter beads or write it in cursive using a toothpick, punch out additional holes around the perimeter to later thread a decorative ribbon through, or finish with a glaze, a little glitter or paint - alternatively, you could try tinting the clay before working with it.
What do you think? Did this inspire you to get crafty with your dog? Our masterpiece is hanging in our living room and I'll admit that I frequently compare his puppy paw to his paw now...
Woof! (Hey, there!) Pierogi, Gilly and Sarah here. Thanks for stopping by our dog blog. We're a little dog-obsessed around here and Pierogi & Co. is all about inspiring you to enjoy the dog days.
