I don't know about your family, but we went through crate training and still regularly rely on Pierogi's crate. I like to think that we were successful with our crate training. Pierogi has a positive association with his crate and we're all still here :) But if there's one thing that I picked up, accessories-wise, it's that padded crate pads didn't work for us. For one, the pad was an easy teething target for Pierogi and then combined with several washes, ours just didn't hold up. So instead, I started to stuff a plush blanket inside of his crate...
The swap worked really well for all of us. I usually fold a blanket to the size of Pierogi's crate and place it in there, but he inevitably ends up pulling it undone to shape the perfect little nest for himself. Mike and I refer to Pierogi's nesting as 'making his bed' and it always cracks us up! It's the cutest thing to see him hold a blanket edge in his mouth while he digs and fluffs up his spot.
Plus, I've always been one to continually rotate the looks of our living spaces and blankets are an easy way to accomplish that. You can really have fun with colors and patterns. It's also more convenient to keep his crate fresh, since it's easy to add his blankets to our regular wash.
And because nothing is better than a soft blanket, we've also formed a habit of keeping a few extra blankets around, outside of Pierogi's crate. Now, we usually throw another blanket on the couch or on the floor and another in our car, so that we can always comfortably nap, cuddle or keep warm.
Lately, Pierogi's favorite spot has been in front of the heater - especially after chilly walks.
We just picked up this fox fleece blanket to use on our holiday travels, but of course the little guy had to sniff it out first :)
It's even softer than it looks!
I made Pierogi paw promise me that he would always be my puppy. He said fine!
So is this blanket a keeper, little guy?
Woof! (Hey, there!) Pierogi, Gilly and Sarah here. Thanks for stopping by our dog blog. We're a little dog-obsessed around here and Pierogi & Co. is all about inspiring you to enjoy the dog days.
