Has your dog ever tried a fun feeder? We regularly pull out ours and have had the ball dispenser, above, since Pierogi was four months. Many times, feeders are used to help slow down speedy-eating dogs, but we love to use ours as an activity and for mental simulation. The ball dispenser is one of our favorites for being so versatile. We've stuffed everything from meals, to treats, to toys inside. The ball naturally becomes weighted once filled, and requires some serious nosing and pawing to knock it around, but we're also able to control the reward flow by adjusting the opening. We found ours at this store.
We tend to use this feeder with wet meals or wet treats. The deep grooves require a lot of work to lick up every bit. Plus, this one is cute to watch Pierogi go after because he follows the bowl walls literally and ends up marching in a circle as he's eating :) This feeder is also great for the grips on the bottom and for being dishwasher safe! We found this bowl a while back at HomeGoods, but it's also available online.
Although this is another maze feeder, Pierogi would tell you that this feeder presents completely different challenges. This fully flexible, silicone piece requires extra work in each row where the walls narrow. This would be convenient to travel with and is also dishwasher safe. This feeder was a recent HomeGoods find.
If you notice the bite marks, you can tell that this feeder is well loved! We frequently use this feeder to hide larger treats - like apple or carrot chunks. To set it up, we line up each of the star layers. It can also be made extremely difficult by tightening the layers, which makes it harder to rotate the discs and expose the loot. This one is also available online.
So, if you've never tried a fun feeder, would you? If you have tried one, would you try a new one?
